If you are umable to make your scheduled matches please find an appropriate replacement and inform Kat of the change. In the situation that clubs have been rostered on, it is the duty of the club to find appropriate persons to umpire. A combined umpiring roster will be available shortly

Umpiring Mentors Wanted
Hockey Ballarat aims to provide training and experience for all those interested in umpiring. Beginner umpires use the Junior Competitions as a means of gaining practical experience. Badged/Experienced Umpires are being sought to act as mentors and to provide assistance to our beginner umpires. Charlie Martin, Umpire Development Officer for the South West Region, has provided the following document as a guideline to umpire mentoring.
If you are interested in assisting please contact either Gavin or Kat via admin@hockeyballarat.org.au
Umpires News
In an effort to improve the standard and consistency of umpiring in the senior competitions, the establishment of a roster of experienced and qualified umpires will continue. Umpires will be selected for the panel on the basis of their umpiring badge qualifications and experience.
Remuneration for senior games is the same as last season;
- Badged Umpire ($15 per game)
- Unbadged Umpire ($10 per game)
All clubs are requested to submit a list of persons on the attached form that they believe would be suitable for inclusion on this roster.
Finally, it is anticipated that there will be an umpires course run during the season in Ballarat (Subject to Interest). Details will be via our website when they are finalised.
Umpiring Accreditation
Notice to all umpires/perspective umpires:
All those wishing to become accredited umpires, or re-accredit, under the new scheme must do their on-line theoretical component by 16th June via the HockeyNet website, at a cost to the individual.
http://www.hockey.org.au/Default.aspx?tabid=410
Community Umpire accreditation ($10) will allow individuals to umpire Junior matches.
Beginner Umpire accreditation ($25) will allow individuals to umpire both Junior and Senior matches.
Development Umpire accreditation ($50) offers a higher standard of Senior umpiring, but also requires attendance at a seminar.
For more information please see the hockey.org.au website
Once you have completed the on-line course please forward your name and details to Gavin Mann or Kat Bateman- no later than 16th June, and they'll organise for your practical assessment to be completed at a later date.
