Food Handlers Wanted!
Hockey Ballarat is seeking Expressions of Interest from anyone within the Hockey Ballarat who currently holds their Food Handlers Certificate, who would like to be the registered Food Handler for the Association.
This will, for the time being, be of a voluntary nature. There is also the possibilty of, in the future, becoming the Canteen Co-Ordinator. It is endeavoured that the successful person or persons will be able to committ to at least 2 years of contributing to the canteen and the Association, though this may be negotiated.
If you do not have a current Food Handlers Certificate, but are interested in the position, Hockey Ballarat is willing to assist with course fees etc.

Under 8's Competition to Begin Soon Also!
Due to the popularity and demand for the U/13 competition, Hockey Ballarat is pleased to announce the addition of an Under 8 Competition to our Term 1 fixture.

Following on from the 2009 Hook In 2 Hockey program, a preseason Under 13's Mixed Competition will be starting from the 12th of February 2010. Please see flyer for more information.
WestVic Player Seeking Boarding Opportunity
The family of one of the WestVic U 17 girls is looking for a private board arrangement in Ballarat. The player is from Portland and is keen to come to Ballarat to play WestVic and attend school. She is going into Year 10. All financial arrangements would be negotiated with the family. The parents are looking for a stable home environment that would promote the values of being a good student whilst also developing their daughters hockey. Champions Hook in 2 Hockey Super Clinic

The Champions Hook in2 Hockey Super Clinic is being held in conjunction with the ABN AMRO Hockey Champions Trophy – Men, 2009 at the State Netball and Hockey Centre, Parkville on Saturday 28th of November. This Super Clinic is open to all children aged between five and twelve years old, and is a rare opportunity to be coached by some of Australia’s hockey champions including Travis Brooks (Olympic Gold and Bronze Medallist), Katie Allen (Olympic Gold Medallist), and Andrew Smith (Olympic Bronze Medallist), along with current members of the Australian Hockeyroos.
Registration is $40 which includes the choice of an equipment pack (hockey stick, shin guards and ball) OR apparel pack (t-shirt and bucket hat); opportunity to meet and be coached by previous and current hockey champions; a show bag; and a fully catered BBQ to follow from 10:30-11:30am.

Hook in2 Hockey is the fun and exciting way to get kids involved playing the great game of hockey in your local area.
Hockey Ballarat is running Hook in 2 Hockey from October - December for kids aged 5-12

Hockey Ballarat Summer Hockey - Registrations Now Open!
Do you want to have a bit of fun while playing hockey??
- Whether you’re new to the game or played for years this is a great opportunity to have a go!
- If you have a group of 7 friends (remember at least 3 have to be females) then register your team now!
- If you are an individual you are still welcome and we would love to find you a team when you register with me!!
- Both individual and team entries must be received by next Friday!! Yes next Friday 16th October!!

Remember we have two different summer hockey competitions. Both are mixed, have a social focus, no hitting allowed, shorter length games and across the pitch (so less running to do) so come along and have a great time!! We are holding a family competition on Tuesday evenings and seniors on Thursday evenings.
Summer Family Hockey -will begin on 20th October and run for 5 weeks every Tuesday night at 6pm. The emphasis is on family and friends playing socially, allowing juniors (10 years and over) to play with parents and older siblings.
Summer Hockey Adults - begins on 22nd October and will run for up to 8 weeks every Thursday night from 6pm. This competition will allow adults to maintain skills and fitness over the summer season and get to know players from different clubs and teams. Some juniors may also choose to play in this competition with other adults.

2010 WestVic Trials
The 2009 Hockey Victoria season is now complete, with WestVic Hockey capturing the Premiership in Men's State League 4 and Under 17 Boys.
2010 Team Trials
Trials are held at the end of each season for all 4 teams so that the squads can begin preparing for the new season.

Sad about the end of the season? Don't be, Hockey Ballarat is running TWO Summer Hockey Competitions!
Both competitions are mixed and have a social focus.

Hockey Ballarat Grand Final Results
The Hockey Ballarat Grand Finals were held on Friday 11 September and Saturday 12 September. Congratulations to all teams who made it to the finals, it has been a very successful and hard fought competition in many grades this season.

In a game that had all the skills of top women's hockey, Ballarat BLAZE had many second half opportunitites that failed to find the mark. EuGC Gold were consistent throughout the game and deserved their hard fought win.

Goal Scorers: Eureka Golden City Blue - 2, Andrew Marshall, Ian Edgar, Zak McMurray, 1, Mark Brown, Liam Canavan.
Eureka Golden Cty Gold - 2, Nathan Hargreaves
The first ten minutes to this match between the two brother teams from EGC showed that the trophy was not going to go to either side without them earning it. The second half aw EGC Blue finally put together some consistent structure around their forward thrusts and reap the rewards for this work.
